Saddleback Meadows Oaks under attack by land speculators California
Quartet, LP
Pictures taken from Vedanta monastery of land not suited for housing. Massive grading would be required, destruction
of sacred Native American sites ORA-711, -713, -714, -715, -1255, -1256, -1257, -1437 and -1435. Nearby sites:
ORA-710 and ORA-716. Homes would be built on earthquake fault. The land was bought at auction in the Resolution
Trust disaster (S&L scandal), it should be dedicated to public open space! |
 |
View from Vedanta, showing "Hidden Ridge" housing tract to the right. Any more development would be destructive,
and counter to the Foothill/Trabuco Specific Plan. |

Closeup of some peaceful scenery on the "trail of world religions" at the monastery. |

One of the hillsides that will be leveled if the project goes through. A white surveyer pole can be seen to the
upper left. In order to have a chance at building, the ground would have to be leveled, and compacted. There is
a very thick layer of soil on top of unstable earthquake faults. Such destruction would require the entire area
to be destroyed, then supposedly brought back to life. |

|
Closeup of the Hidden Ridge development, showing other projects encroaching on the ridgeline. Unless the project
is stopped, most of the greenery you see in this picture would be destroyed, the property line is the fence in
foreground. |

These hills buildable? Only if first leveled, the ill-conceived project requires 9,300,000 cubic yards of earth
moving. |
|
|
Even if some parts are buildable, the project would destroy valuable viewscape resources as well as invaluable
habitat, wildlife corridors, and sacred Native American sites. |
